It’s time to address the elephant in the room. Costco dispenses hearing aids. We at Adaptive Audiology dispense hearing aids.

Why should you choose a private clinic like ours over a cost-saving place like Costco?

Accessibility & Convenience

Costco shopping centers are present in most major city centers. When you need immediate care, it becomes incredibly inconvenient to drive 60 to 90 minutes. When calling a Costco, you will speak with an employee at a call center.

At a private clinic you will speak with a receptionist, someone who knows not only you, but also your provider.

The phantom does offer mild hearing enhancement and could be used as a very basic amplification device. The volume control is the main way to control the amplification of the device, however, with an iPhone, the native controls within the phone’s software can also be used to adjust volume.

Pricing & Transparency

Costco is able to price their hearing aids at a discount due to their ability to purchase technologies in bulk. Private clinics cannot compete with Costco on price; however, we can offer superior products and patient experience.

Quality & Technology

Private clinics can provide a wider variety of models and technologies compared to Costco because the fitting of these technologies requires a more experienced clinician with higher levels of training-something lacking at most Costco stores.

Personalization & Service Quality

Because private clinic providers are highly educated and extensively trained, the care patients receive is more personalized and a wider variety of treatment options are available.

Our clinic offers a large variety of manufacturer options as well as implantable solutions like cochlear implants.

We also supply assistive devices for hearing loss such as amplified phones, remote microphones, and TV streamers. Offering these additional options allows patients to improve their outcomes beyond what hearing aids are capable of achieving.

Aftercare

At Adaptive Audiology, patients are scheduled every six months for routine service and hearing screenings. Our patients also receive additional assistance whenever needed, including Bluetooth/smartphone support.

When our patients have repairs, we offer loaner devices so that they are not inconvenienced with being unable to hear while waiting for their repairs to return from the manufacturer.

Unlike Costco, our hearing aids come with a two or three-year warranty plan which includes full coverage of repairs as well as loss and damage coverage.

Financial Assistance & Insurance

Costco doesn’t offer financial solutions or work with insurance companies. Not only do we work with most major insurance plans; we also offer financing options as well as a lease-to-own program.

Dr. Sondra has developed these payment options with the intention that every person wishing to receive better hearing should be able to obtain care.

For those that cannot afford any of our financial options, our clinic also works with the Lions Club Hearing Aid Bank of Iowa.
